Houston, Texas, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
Leadership team members, Dr. Mazzula and Rebecca Rangel, headed to the National Multicultural Conference and Summit for a presentation titled “Latinas in Leadership: Generations taking Action”. They discussed Latinas’ significant contributions to the U.S.-American economy despite statistics highlighting their under-representation in professional roles compared to women of other racial/ethnic groups. “it is impetrative that we nurture and support Latina leaders” said Rangel. The roundtable provided a space for students and professionals (education, research and practice) to discuss mentoring and advocacy, barriers and opportunities to leadership and explored professional networks and mentoring opportunities to help fill the gap in Latina leadership.
